Why is it better to invade a democracy without UN approval than a dictatorship with UN approval?

Why is Russia's action in Georgia considered acceptable by the American left, but America's action in Iraq is not? America merely enforced UN rules pertaining to Iraq and did not surprise the world. Russia responds disproportionately to Georgia's self-defense, but libs still call Bush a greater danger to world peace. Why?!
