How do I start studying astronomy?

Right now I'm a pure dabbler at astronomy... and I can't wait to really start studying it. It'll be a year until I join my local astronomy club, and a few years until I study it for the first time in university! There was astronomy in my Physics syllabus, but they cancelled it one year before I started studying! Should I have/keep an 'Astro book'? How will I test myself? Any great sites on the web? I plan to major in Astronomy in the future. :D
