How to publish manga?

I know publishing regular books is probably a lot easier to do than publishing manga since many more people are authors and not manga-kas. But I'm starting one and just out of curiousity: Where would you go if you wanted to publish mangas? Or any other information you might have is great! Arigatou! Yeah, I'm an American...is that factor in whether or not you'll make it when applying?
